“Painted Ladies”

My most recent project is called “Painted Ladies” which is based on the album design from the back of Pink Floyd’s catalogue, designed by Storm Thorgerson and conceived by Finlay Cowan.  “There’s an incredible sense of humour in the Floyd camp, and they decided that the back catalogue should be literally, the catalogue on the backs.” - Thorgerson.

I took this idea and merged it around todays current issues and struggles.  instead of album covers on the backs of these young women I (Lata Gleich) with the help of a local artist (Joelle Provost) came up with four concept pieces based on just some of the important issue we face in these current times and painted them on the backs of four beautiful young diverse woman of today!

“Working with Lata & Joelle was very peaceful and a liberating experience. I love creating art with my body as a model, and this project took it to the next level. All of the designs were super inspiring , especially the Pride design that I was chosen to model, and it gave me an opportunity to express myself as a model in the LGBTQ community”

- Starla

“Lata and Joelle are incredibly creative and talented.I was honored to be part of this project. As a woman of color, a Latina and an immigrant. Me too- I have suffered harassment and unwanted behaviors. The opportunity to represent the importance of saying me too with these pictures was really powerful.” - Karla

“Lata knew my art from social media and I was honored that she requested I be the solo body painter for this project. When I entered the warehouse, it was bursting with light and the models entered shortly thereafter. I was overtaken by the grace of each model; something about the way Lata organized the event made for a very special experience and everyone seemed to be at their best. While I painted the models one by one, we were able to share quality conversations. It was a very memorable and warm experience that I would be honored to conduct again”
